I’m not a pastor. It’s just a way that we know that God’s word, and we’ll go through Hebrews four to twelve here in a second. But it was written by forty men who were inspired by God the Holy Spirit over fifteen hundred years on three continents. God’s word, the Bible is unique.

It is a gift from God. It is a It is a written truth laying out principles, laying out some of God’s character, his nature, his holiness, and a lot of narrative of mistakes and difficulties that people of faith, people that were predestined before the foundation of the world, struggled in their lives to try to live amongst people who were still in darkness. This is really important. I’ve been involved in political commentary, and during periods of years I was really involved with politics.

And then as I was preparing for this podcast along with our new site that we’re building out, Finishthrace dot com, and we have courses that will be coming out if you want to sign up for those. As I was looking around just taking a you know, getting the pulse of the culture, there’s fires in California, and even though people are perishing today because of a lack of salvation in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Millions of people are going to stare at their phones, tablets, or computers or televisions all day just to see what the fire is doing the next hour. See our life is like a vapor, and then we’re gone.

So as we go through this podcasts, I want to lay out for you that you and I, before the foundation of the world, we were chosen in Christ. And I’ll get to Ephesians here in a second. So the writer of Hebrews, one of the forty men who penned God’s Word, wrote in Hebrews four twelve that then the Word of God is a living and it’s active. God’s Word is unique.

You cannot add anything to it. You cannot add the pearl of grade Price, the Book of Mormon, the Vedas, the Buddha’s writing, Scientology, the Koran, because they’re not of God. The sixty six books, the forty authors, three continents, fifteen hundred years, without contradiction, one message. Jesus Christ is Lord who died for the elect and in the end will take all of Lucifer, Lucifer’s hoarde, the fall, angels, death, sin, and cast him into outer darkness for eternity.

And then the bride of Christ will spend eternity with their Lord and Savior and their sovereign King, who loved them so much that while we were sinning. Romans five eight says God that Jesus died for us. So we’re going to really focus our lives on. Spend time in prayer, spend time in God’s word, spend time with other Christians, attending a healthy church, using your gifts at church, and every day make much of Jesus.

So God’s word is living an active at sharper than any double edged sword. Paul, when writing to Timothy and two Timothy three sixteen, Let’s go three fifteen through seventeen. This is a young protege of Paul, a pastor Paul writing to Timothy. This is right before Paul was martyred in prison from infancy.

You have known the holy scriptures which are able to make you wise for us salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. All scripture is God breathed. Is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training and righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work. Roman fifteen to four.

Paul wrote, for everything that was written in the past was written out of our instruction, so that through endurance and encouragement at scriptures, we might have hope. The world without Christ has no hope. It does not have full complete joy because they people in darkness. They a lot of them avoid light because their deeds are evil, and so they just they get distracted with things.

They allow themselves to be pulled down rabbit holes. And then one day, because we’re all destined to die once and then we face judgment, one day, they’ll have to give an account. The reason why we’re doing this podcast is to make sure that you are in the race. You are giving an answer, You’re prepared to give an answer for the hopeful lies within you.

You’re making much of Jesus, loving your family, loving your neighbors, being a light in the world, but standing firm on convictions, on true in truth. Paul told Timothy two Timothy fourth seventh through eight. I have fought the good fight, and I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.

Therefore there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing. The writer of Hebrews in twelve one through two says, therefore, we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses. So let us also lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. Looking to what, looking to your pastor looking to TikTok instagram the news.

No, primarily your walk is looking to Jesus, who is the founder and the perfector of our faith, who, for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. That’s why Paul and Glatians five point seventy asked the church, you were running well, who hindered you from obeying the truth? We don’t want to be like the world. And Philippians four eight we’re told that Christians, finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think on these, which is why Romans twelve to two. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you will be able to test and approve what is good pleasing in the perfect will of God.

Well, as we’re doing that, then we should have this growth of humility in our lives. Arrogant Christian is an oxymoron. They don’t go together opposed to one another. If we did nothing to earn our salvation, like it says in Ephesians one, then why do we go around as though we saved ourselves or we did we contributed to God’s work? Now In Ephesian’s one, verse three, Paul said, praise be to the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ, for he chose us in Christ before the creation of the world.

I’m gonna stop here. For what purpose? Why did God choose us in Christ before the creation of the world. The verse continues to be holy and blameless in his sight in love He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ in a court with what how good we been? No in accordance with His pleasure and his will, to the praise of His glorious grace which He has freely given us and the one he loves in him in Christ, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, and accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. And with all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his what good pleasure to the counsel of his own will, which He purposed in Christ to put in effect when the time reaches their fulfillment, to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ and Him.

We were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will. And I’m going to finish here on Ephesian’s one, but listen to this. God did everything. He created us wonderfully, made in a mother’s womb.

As we grew up, did the Holy Spirit called us. We were given the faith we believed, we confess we were born from above. But this was all determined before the foundation of the world. How secure should you feel in your relationship with Jesus Christ, and how should we live? Then? Because the Bible says in Corinthians.

Don’t you know that you’re not your own, that you’ve been bought at a price. Therefore glorified God with your body and spirit, with your God’s Verse thirteen. And you were also included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the Gospel of your salvation, when you believed, okay, Christian, when you believed and confessed, you were marked in Him with the seal the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession to the praise of His glory. So how should we live in a world in a world that is anti Christ, a world that’s whose father is the devil and there’s massive spiritual warfare.

Well if he’s a Philippians too, Paul said, Listen, you need to have the mindset of Jesus Christ and his humility. So Christians, here, here’s here’s what it looks like when we have our priorities straight, Paul told the church in PHILIPPI make my joy complete by being like minded, having the same love, being one and spirited of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit rather than humility, value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interest, but each of you to the interest of the others in your relationship with others. Other believers have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.

We are to imitate this church Jesus, who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own invalancee. Rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness and being found in appearance as a man. He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. That’s massive humility.

That is humility we can’t attain because we’re not God perfect. And took on cloaked in flesh and then had to live in a sinful world. And then, according to the scriptures, he allowed the world to put him through a false trial and then nail him on a cross. But that was his will and his plan, because on the cross he conquered death.

This was all done and decided before the foundation of the world. So God gave us his word. God gave us his holy spirit. God has told us that we are to be running our race right to win.

Here’s Christian Life. One Corinthians nine twenty four through twenty seven. Paul said, do you not know that in a race, all the runners run, but only one receives the prize. Every human on earth is born into the world, and they are running their own race.

But the world runs, like Paul says, and he continues, so run that you may obtain the prize. The prize for those who were born again, called before the foundation world is eternal life. Because every athlete exercises self control in all things, but the world see this verse continues. They do it to receive a perishable wreath.

In the Greek and the Roman races and the Olympics, they would when they would win, they would get like a like a olive branch or some type of head covering that was like a natural crown that would obviously perish. But we were pursuing one that’s imperishable. So Paul said, I don’t run aimlessly. I don’t box as one beating the air.

But I disciplined my body and keep it under control. And for him less. After preaching to others, I myself be disqualified. We are so blessed, but we also have to not be sucked into the world’s system see one of the hard things for us and Jesus.

In his prayer in John seventeen fifteen through seventeen concerning the Church, concerning us the Bride of Christ, true Christ followers and mis Prari says to his father, I’m not asking that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by the truth. Your word is truth, John fifteen nineteen.

If you love the world, Jesus speaking, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you because you are not of the world. But I have chosen you out of the world. That’s was why Romans two.

We did, then didn’t. Don’t be conformed to the world. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you’ll be able to test and approve what is a good, the pleasing and the perfect will of God.

Phlippi and Street twenty. Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. So how do how do we live then in the world? With all that being said, Well, Paul wasn’t emphatic, and so is John First John two fifteen through sixteen. Do not love the world or anything in the world.

If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not from the Father, but from the world. Fires in California, wars in Ukraine, the Communists growing and influence in China. You have islam extremism, which is the application the living out of the Kuran in the Hadiz, but it’s unfettered like in Syria with ISIS, and Africa and parts of India.

And we saw the terrorism in New Orleans. A guy American citizen who went to Egypt in Canada and met with the ISIS, the ISIS sympathizers and emams and got radicalized and then his whole goal was to kill, hoping that jihad would flare up in the United States. The world is at war with God because Lucifer is the father of this world. Until Revelation nineteen, a third of the angels fell.

And there is massive spiritual warfare going on, and we don’t see it now. We will see I believe we’ll see people that are possessed, people that are are oppressed. But in if Heesians one, actually, let’s go over to Ephesians five. It talks about the spiritual warfare that we’re under.

I’m sorry Ephesian six. Ephesian six, Paul said in verse ten, finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. So we’re in a world that’s fallen. Jesus said, I’m going to keep you Father, keep the believers in the world.

I’m saving them out of the world in the end and their glorification. But keep them from the devil. Well, Paul says in Ephesian six. Then Christians, we have been given tools to fight the spiritual battle.

Verse eleven, Ephesian six. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil schemes. I want to do a news flash here for you. When the apostles wrote, unless Paul or one of them said, this is of me, this is not of God.

This is my opinion. But in general, the apostolic instructions in the epistles are non optional, and if we don’t, it’s like you should wear a seatbelt before you get in the race. I’m not gonna wear the seatbelt. Well you were warned, and here is the casualty statistics, and if you don’t, this could happen.

I’m not gonna wear the seatbelt. You crash, you fly through the window, you pass away. What are you gonna argue to God? Well, no one. I didn’t really believe the seatbelt would help.

We are in a spiritual battle. So the way we live in a world is to not love the world, not to be yoked up or partnered up with people in the world, people in their walking in darkness. We want to stay unstained by the world. I mean, if you want to, you want to just lay it out.

James and four four. Concerning people who think they can kind of do both ways, they can. I’m a Christian, but yeah, I understand what the Bible says. But James four four to those people, just like in Matthew seven, when many people that claim to be Christians are not going they’re not going to heaven, he says, you adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God.

Therefore, whoever chooses to be a friend of the world renders himself an enemy of God. Glatians five sixteen through seventeen. Paul wrote, so I say walk by the spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh craves what is contrary to the spirit, and the spirit what is contrary to the flesh.

They are opposed to each other. So that you do not do what you want. And when we do this John fifteen eighteen through nineteen, Jesus said, if the world hates you, understand that it hated me first. If you’re of the world, it would love you as its own.

Instead, the world hates you because you’re not of this world. But I have chosen you out of the world. How do we live in the world. We walk humbly, We imitate Christ’s humility.

We choose to stay unstained by the world. We don’t in Second Corinthian six fourteen, we do not unequally yoke up with those in darkness. This is not optional. This if we do what the word says, and we understand that God loves us and he predestined us before the foundation of the world, and there’s good works that are for us to do, and we can walk boldly, confidently and humbly before our God, because Paul says in Second Corinthian six fourteen, do not be unequally yoke with unbelievers.

What partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or fellowship does light have with darkness? Verse fifteen? What harmonies are between Christ and Balaal or Satan? And what does a believer have in common with then unbeliever? So the armor are God and we’ll finish here. But before we do, I do want to remind you guys, a lot of people are sick right now. We don’t want to be like the world, so we don’t want to be staring at bad news all day nervously. We don’t want to encourage people to sin and saying well, I don’t want to hurt their feelings.

We simply want to be prepared to give an answer for the hope that lies within us the Gospel. We need to be in prayer, in the Word, and fellowship in a healthy church, and daily need to be reminded that’s God’s mercies are new every morning, so you get up in the morning. Imitations three twenty two through twenty three. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.

Is not a good word, never ceases. His mercies never come to an end, and they are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. So God’s not keeping a record of wrongs and when we are aware of the sins we’ve committed, then we confess them, and He’s faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.

So we then need to be armored up as we start our days. And then we need to be taking our thoughts captive throughout the day, and we need to we need to be used by God’s glory. That’s why we’re here. That’s why He chose you, and he chose me, not because of anything we were gonna do.

Romans nine talks about with Jacob. It’s not as though that before Esau, you know. It says before Esau was born and Jacob, before they had done anything, God chose Jacob well before we did, before we even took our first breath. God had already chosen us and laid us and put the good works for us to do at his timing.

Because God causes all things to work together for good to those who love him, according to his purpose. So daily you get up mercies are new. Lord, give me strength, empower me, Holy Spirit, give me wisdom, bless my efforts. And then Paul says, put on your armor so you can stand against the devil’s schemes for our struggle.

So the true christ follower, not the lip service person, not the one that James’s hammering, but for those who have been born again predestined before the foundation of the world. We don’t know who those people are. So there’s no reason to be arrogant if you are, because you and I had nothing to do with it except we confessed and believed when we were presented with the Gospel. This way, when you have the armor on, we can stand against the devil’s schemes.

Because Satan and a third of the demons, they’re the angels that are demons, are going around and they roar. They try to freak us out as Christians, so we paralyze. Don’t say that, don’t tell them that sin, because you will get fired. There’s a young marine that’s in a study that I go to sometimes and he puts his armor on spiritually.

Well, when I was in the Marine Corps or not a lot of Christians that you could find. It was almost like a desert water in the desert. He told a mint study a min’s breakfast that I was at, that one of his guys in his room, one of his bunkmates, came to him and said, my girlfriend’s coming in from out of town, and you know we’d like to so could you like leave for a while, And the Lord told him take your stand. He said, you know, I’m not going to give up my room, so you can do that.

Boom right. But he’s been able to minister to people in the midst of the persecution and the mocking of the people in the unit. So here’s what we do. Since we are since verse twelve of Ephesian six, since our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers and against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground. There’s a there’s an important there’s a important phrase there, so that when the day of evil comes. Jesus said, you shall have tribulations, but don’t worry, because I’ve overcome the world. But Paul is saying, put on the armor, so when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground.

And after you have done everything to stand stand firm with the belt of truth. Buckled around your waist with the best the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of Peace. In addition to all this, take up the field does shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation and the spirit and the sword of the Spirit, which is what the word of God.

In Revelation nineteen, when Jesus is returning, he has his sword, and he has written on his name, he is the Word of God. But out of him, out of his mouth, the sword comes and is the Word, and he destroys the world that is at war with him. If we make much of Jesus, if we live separate from the world, if we keep in mind that we are not of this world, so we should not be conformed to this world. We should not love this world.

We should make much of Jesus. We should love our families. We should love those in the church especially, but for those that God has us be his outreach. For we even help the unsaved at times, because the Bible says God that God brings rain on the just and the endust.

But at the end of the day. If at the end of the day, if you can tell someone all of the terrible news of the world that’s on all the social media, if you can look in the mirror and go I stress out about things that happened five years ago. I didn’t share the gospel, which I believe. By the way, sharing the Gospel is a Holy Spirit movement.

It’s not a force walking up to strangers and constantly be confronting people. We are to be the light, and those God is calling will be drawn to the light, and those who God is not calling, some will be repelled. And you will get that, like Jesus said, you will get the hatred. But understand, if evil has a problem with you, guess what you are shining? Right? You are shining if the world has a problem with you, and that is what that is what we should be after.

So how you feelings encouraging? I encourage you to listen to this podcast the second time. Write down the verses if you need to put him to practice, and then watch God do miraculous things in your life for His glory. Please shay us with your friends and family.
