MSNBC President Meets with Joy Reid’s Team After Show Cancellation Leaks to Media

MSNBC recently faced turmoil as the network decided to cancel “The ReidOut,” hosted by Joy Reid. The shocking news reached the staff not through internal communication but via media leaks, leaving them disheartened and seeking answers.

The cancellation ignited a wave of frustration among the team, as they demanded clarity on the reasons behind the decision and what it meant for their careers at MSNBC.

Rebecca Kutler, the new president of MSNBC, convened an unexpected virtual meeting with Reid’s team to address the situation.

During the meeting, Kutler confirmed the unfortunate reality that the entire staff had been laid off, though they would receive severance pay until April. Despite this assurance, the staffers were encouraged to seek other opportunities within the company.

The atmosphere during the meeting was tense, as the staff grappled with the unexpected news and the uncertainty of their future.

Although Kutler mentioned that over 100 new positions would be posted within the week, this did little to alleviate the concerns of those who had dedicated themselves to “The ReidOut.” The sudden end of their show left many feeling a profound sense of loss and insecurity.

Kutler expressed regret over the manner in which the staff learned about the cancellation, acknowledging it was a bitter pill to swallow.

The lack of direct communication from leadership was perceived as a “terrible, terrible way to learn about our fate,” further exacerbating the staff’s frustration. Despite the apology, the staff remained visibly upset and disillusioned.

A significant point of contention was whether political factors played a role in the show’s termination. Kutler was specifically asked if former President Donald Trump’s stance on the network influenced the decision. She firmly denied this, stating, “Donald Trump was not a factor” in the cancellation.

The decision to end “The ReidOut” highlighted the challenges facing MSNBC as it navigates its programming strategy. With the media landscape continuously evolving, networks often face tough choices about which shows to continue or cancel. The impact of such decisions on staff, however, is profound and deeply personal.

For many on Reid’s team, the cancellation felt abrupt and left them questioning their future within the network. Even with new positions being offered, the sense of instability lingered. The reliance on media leaks for critical information only added to the turmoil experienced by the staff.

The incident underscores the importance of transparent communication within organizations, especially during times of significant change.

Ensuring that staff receive timely and accurate information can mitigate feelings of uncertainty and betrayal. As MSNBC moves forward, it will need to address these communication gaps to maintain trust among its employees.

The broader implications of “The ReidOut” cancellation also raise questions about the direction of MSNBC’s programming. As networks strive to cater to their audiences, balancing diverse viewpoints and content becomes increasingly complex. Decisions surrounding show cancellations and new programming will likely continue to spark debate and scrutiny.

For now, the staff of “The ReidOut” must navigate an uncertain path, seeking new opportunities while grappling with the end of their show. The experience serves as a reminder of the volatile nature of the media industry and the impact such changes have on those involved. As the dust settles, the focus will shift to how MSNBC plans to move forward in the wake of this decision.

  1. Seems like the staff feels like they were government employees and had jobs for life. Dispute declining viewer ship they never thought that the show could be cancelled. That attitude along with Reid’s constant lies and racist inflammatory comments should have lite up their brains that changes had to be coming but their lack of forsite combined with the stars arrogance sealed their fate!

  2. Apparently, The Reid Staff does not have the ability to read the performance level of their shows which shows the viewership has gone down!!!!!!

  3. Hahahahaha Cant imagine anything nicer or healthier for all of them. Thank YOU GOD for REAL Joy and not the imposter, as when satan disguises himself as an angel of light

  4. Your article should mention the show’s declining ratings. TV is all about and only about numbers. The rest is irrelevant to advertisers.

  5. About time they flushed this black turd down the toilet she’s finally on her way home to the ghetto where she belongs but flush twice to make sure she gets all the way home. Disgusting disgraceful person

  6. This shows that the “average” mentality of the people involved in the Reidout, is well below that of a Moron. Get out your Crayola and you may have a chance at explaining to them why they have less value than a single grain of sand .
