In their desperate attempt to remove the final block in their pathway of deconstructing traditional America, Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats are repeatedly pushing for legislation to increase “oversight” of the Supreme Court.
The radical progressives’ calls increased last month over a pair of flags flown over Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s homes, including an upside-down American flag over his Alexandria, Va. residence in the days surrounding Jan. 6, 2021, and President Biden’s inauguration.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “All In” that the Supreme Court of the United States’s failure to impose consequences for any ethical breach is leading to “authoritarianism, tyranny, and the abuse of power in the United States.”
They said they will be introducing legislation in response to the increased ethics concerns related to the Supreme Court.
This is a familiar drum beat for the radical Marxists.
In June of 2022, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) also appeared on Meet The Press to talk about the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade says that recent Supreme Court nominees lied under oath, which may merit impeachment.
AOC: ‘The Supreme Court Has Dramatically Overreached Its Authority’
Last year AOC complained to CNN’s Dana Bash that “the Supreme Court has not been receiving the adequate oversight necessary in order to preserve their own legitimacy.”
On Tuesday Ocasio-Cortez and Raskin, who serve as the ranking and vice-ranking members, respectively, on the House Oversight Committee, were part of a committee roundtable regarding these concerns. They explored various “avenues” for holding Supreme Court justices accountable, they told MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes.
“It’s the highest court in the land with the lowest ethical standards. These are the only governmental officials in the land who are not governed by a binding ethics code. There’s no process by which we can hold any of them accountable,” Raskin said.
Ocasio-Cortez said, “Justice Alito’s position is laughable in this. This idea that he can be and that the court should be accountable to nobody and that the only person they should be accountable to our themselves.”
She continued, “This kind of scout’s promise sort of set up for how we should be having ethics standards for the highest and most consequential court in the land. It is completely unacceptable, and not only is it unacceptable but to have anyone of our coequal branches be completely unaccountable to the others is paving the path to authoritarianism, tyranny, the abuse of power in the United States.”
Ocasio-Cortez added, “It is structurally, completely unsustainable. So, it is not a question of if Congress has jurisdiction and power over the Supreme Court. It is what power are we going to exercise in order to reign in a fundamentally unaccountable and rogue court?
“Congressman Raskin and myself will be introducing forthcoming legislation to even have the Supreme Court be subject to the same $50 gift rule that he and I are subject to, as everyone else who are members of Congress,” she added later.
