Trump Campaign Responds to Kamala Harris’s ‘Hitler’ Comparison

Just 13 days before Election Day, Kamala Harris sparked outrage by comparing former President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler in a brief, contentious press conference. Rather than addressing the issues Americans face—such as rising inflation, increasing crime, and economic instability—Harris chose to launch a personal attack on Trump, relying on a debunked narrative from four years ago. The Trump campaign quickly fired back, accusing Harris of attempting to distract voters from her floundering campaign and failed policies.

The press conference, which lasted only three minutes, was marked by Harris’s harsh criticism of Trump, attempting to reignite a narrative initially pushed by The Atlantic in 2020. The smear in question, penned by Jeffrey Goldberg, alleged that Trump had disrespected the memory of Army Specialist Vanessa Guillén, who was tragically murdered at Fort Hood (now Fort Cavazos) in 2020. However, Harris’s attack didn’t stop there; she went further, dredging up claims that Trump had once praised Hitler during a conversation with his former Chief of Staff, John Kelly.

The accusation—that Trump allegedly said Hitler “did some good things” in reference to rebuilding Germany’s economy—was quickly seized upon by Harris. Kelly, who has become increasingly vocal in his criticism of Trump, claims to have “admonished” the then-president for the remark. Yet, the Trump campaign, along with many political observers, has dismissed these allegations as yet another attempt to smear Trump without evidence.

Harris’s decision to focus on these claims, rather than on pressing national issues, baffled many. As Americans continue to grapple with skyrocketing grocery prices, high gas costs, and uncertainty over the future of the economy, Harris avoided addressing these topics in favor of launching a personal attack. Her comments, delivered without offering any substantive policy proposals, quickly drew criticism from both sides of the political aisle.

A spokesperson for the Trump campaign issued a swift rebuttal, accusing Harris of playing political games and distracting from the real issues facing the American people. “While families are struggling to put food on the table, Kamala Harris is more focused on reviving debunked smears and pushing false narratives about President Trump,” the statement read. “This is a desperate, last-ditch attempt to shift attention away from her disastrous campaign and Biden’s failing administration.”

Trump’s team argued that Harris’s remarks reflect a broader pattern of deflection employed by the Biden-Harris administration. “Instead of talking about real solutions—like lowering inflation, securing our borders, or ensuring economic stability—Kamala Harris is trying to score cheap political points with baseless accusations,” the spokesperson added.

The Trump campaign also took aim at John Kelly, whose relationship with the former president has soured over time. Kelly was previously used by Democrats to push the now-debunked “suckers and losers” narrative, which alleged that Trump disrespected fallen U.S. soldiers during a 2018 trip to France. The Trump team pointed to Kelly’s history of increasingly “erratic” behavior, suggesting that his latest claims about Trump praising Hitler are yet another attempt to tarnish Trump’s reputation without credible evidence.

While Harris’s comparison of Trump to Hitler grabbed headlines, it also drew considerable backlash from both conservative and independent voters. Many saw it as an inappropriate and inflammatory comparison designed to generate media attention rather than engage in a substantive discussion about policy. Political analysts noted that the timing of the press conference—just days before the election—indicated a clear strategy to distract from the Biden administration’s failings and Harris’s struggling campaign.

The incident highlights the deepening divide in this election season, where personal attacks and sensational claims often take precedence over addressing real issues. Voters are facing high inflation, job insecurity, and economic instability, yet Harris’s decision to compare Trump to one of history’s most infamous dictators was seen as out of touch with the concerns of everyday Americans.

The Trump campaign wasted no time in pointing out that the former president, during his tenure, focused on putting “America First” by revitalizing the economy, securing the southern border, and negotiating trade deals that benefited the U.S. “Kamala Harris would rather slander President Trump than talk about her administration’s failure to address the border crisis, inflation, or the rising cost of living,” a campaign official said.

In addition, Trump’s team argued that Harris’s repeated avoidance of serious issues only weakens her standing with voters. With her campaign struggling to gain traction in key battleground states, this latest attack on Trump may have been an attempt to reignite enthusiasm among her base, but it risks alienating swing voters who are tired of negative campaigning and looking for tangible solutions to their problems.

Kamala said:

“All of this is further evidence for the American people of who Donald Trump really is. This is a window into who Donald Trump really is, from the people who know him best, from the people who worked with him side by side in the Oval Office and in the Situation Room.

It is clear from John Kelly’s words that Donald Trump is someone who, I quote, “certainly falls into the general definition of fascist,” who, in fact, vowed to be a dictator on day one and vowed to use the military as his personal militia to carry out his personal and political vendettas.

Donald Trump is increasingly unhinged and unstable. And in a second term, people like John Kelly would not be there to serve as guardrails against his propensities and his actions. Those who once tried to stop him from pursuing his worst impulses would no longer be there to rein him in.

So the bottom line is this: We know what Donald Trump wants. He wants unchecked power. The question in 13 days will be, what do the American people want?”

Steven Cheung, Trump Campaign Communications Director, was quick to fire back:

“Kamala Harris is a stone-cold loser who is increasingly desperate because she is flailing, and her campaign is in shambles. That is why she continues to peddle outright lies and falsehoods that are easily disproven. The fact is that Kamala’s dangerous rhetoric is directly to blame for the multiple assassination attempts against President Trump and she continues to stoke the flames of violence all in the name of politics. She is despicable and her grotesque behavior proves she is wholly unfit for office.”

This is what the Democrats have become: a party more interested in character assassinations than addressing the needs of everyday Americans.

As Election Day approaches, the sharp rhetoric and sensational accusations are likely to continue. However, as Americans prepare to cast their votes, the Trump campaign is betting that voters will prioritize policy solutions over personal attacks. For many, the election will hinge not on fiery press conferences or comparisons to historical villains but on who can deliver real results and improve their daily lives.

  1. who is more like a Nazi Hitler started the “strength through joy” to get people to join the Nazi party. In 1934 he started the “bureau to suppress misinformation” and put in sweeping disarmament laws. We know what happens when the government has a sweeping disarmament of its population.
