Trump Expands ICE Raids in Los Angeles, Chicago, NYC

President Donald Trump recently made waves with a Truth Social post calling for the largest mass deportation program in history. He directed ICE officers to focus on crime-ridden inner cities and sanctuary cities. This announcement comes as a change from Trump’s previous statement about easing up on workplace raids in the agricultural and hospitality sectors.

Trump’s earlier comments had surprised many supporters when he mentioned the need to reconsider aggressive immigration policies. Farmers and hospitality industry folks had voiced concerns about losing valuable employees. The New York Times reported that the administration decided to pause raids in certain industries, based on an internal DHS email.

The DHS email, penned by Tatum King, a senior ICE official, instructed agents to halt operations on agriculture and hospitality sites. It clarified that investigations into human trafficking, money laundering, and drug smuggling could continue. However, arrests of “noncriminal collaterals,” or undocumented individuals without criminal records, were to be avoided.

This shift in policy did not sit well with Trump’s core supporters. The Times highlighted the mixed reactions, particularly in light of a recent worksite raid in Los Angeles. Ambiance Apparel, a company with a history of legal troubles, was at the center of this raid.

Ambiance Apparel and its owner, Sang Bum “Ed” Noh, had been under federal scrutiny for customs fraud and money laundering. In 2020, Noh accepted a plea deal and agreed to pay substantial restitution. The Department of Justice stated that Ambiance Apparel would be on probation for five years.

Despite the scaled-back ICE operations, Ambiance Apparel remained on the radar due to its legal history. Trump’s new focus on inner cities and sanctuary cities marks a significant shift in priorities. He emphasized the need to address illegal immigration in major cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.

Trump’s message underscored the challenges faced by ICE officers, who he said are often targeted by radical Democrat politicians. He praised their courage and determination in executing the mass deportation mission. Trump insisted that these efforts are vital to restoring law and order in American cities.

He accused Democrats of using illegal immigrants to bolster their voter base and expand the welfare state. Trump criticized them for supporting open borders and other leftist policies. He urged ICE, Border Patrol, and law enforcement to concentrate on crime-ridden areas.

Trump expressed confidence in the support of “real Americans” for ICE officers. He stressed the importance of keeping cities, schools, and communities safe from illegal alien crime. Trump’s administration aims to reverse what he sees as the destructive impact of illegal immigration on American towns.

The president reaffirmed his commitment to the remigration of illegal aliens. He vowed to prevent the entry of individuals who threaten the tranquility of the United States. Trump extended his support to ICE, FBI, DEA, ATF, and other agencies involved in these operations.

In his call to action, Trump urged these agencies to get the job done. He expressed readiness to target specific locations in Los Angeles. Among these were the CHIRLA building and SEIU headquarters.
